EXTREMES AND POLARITIES: 17th CENTURY BAROQUE
At the darkest point, the light appears. Amidst the distress and desperation of 17th century Europe, which had been ravaged by war, plague and inquisition, there emerged in the arts amazing examples of hope, confidence and joy. Taking place just before the darkest day of the year, the PBO presents a study of life between despair and optimism as we travel through the music and poetry of a troubled century. Three singers will join the PBO to help us celebrate this wonderful music during the holiday season, including music from Biber, Bernhard, and Buxtehude, among others.
