BAROQUE FANDANGO: THE SPAIN OF CHARLES III
The Spain of Charles III combined erudite court entertainment with a variety of musical activities that transcended continents, eras and social classes. At this exciting moment in time, lively dance forms such as the bolero, fandango and seguidilla, as well as musical inspirations from the New World, resonated everywhere from the Habsburg court to salons and public cafés. Our season finale emulates a spirited Spanish soiree, combining music by European composers such as Boccherini with hummable 17th century dance tunes from Latin America. Olé!
